Iceberg and television

January 13, 2008 by saman01

For some people, the Titanic was, indirectly, a symbol and a landmark in defining what mankind would become because of television.

In David Sarnoff’s biography, one of the most influential persons who imposed television in America and who made out of the letters NBC the most appreciated symbols in the area, there is an episode during his youth when it is said that on the night of 14 to 15 April 1912 when the Titanic sank, he was only a Morse code receptionist assistant. That night, he was left to work and he received the SOS message from the Titanic, and he was the one who let it known to the world.

Skipping this detail, maybe this is the best example in expressing what television actually is, including internet television.

Since the Titanic, people are unfortunately interested only in the tip of the iceberg in anything broadcast by television. Nothing more!

The colossal system of television nowadays cannot sink if every day it comes across easygoing topics and subculture, which can be associated with a dangerous iceberg tip, but it can maybe trigger the necessity to rediscover people and their real spiritual needs.

At the moment, internet television can be an alternative, a solution. However, there is long way until subculture will be overcome by high quality internet TV programs. Most of them are currently overwhelmed by sexual or even pornographic connotations, there are many anonymous who insist on expressing their opinions, there are offered many opportunities in different domains, so that you can be really confused sometimes and you do not even know if they deserve your credibility.
