The internet will revolutionize television in the following 5 years, because of the online video content boom and because of personal computers and televisions emergences.
The popularity of You Tube has led to a decrease in teenagers watching televisions for hours even all day long.

In the near future, more and more consumers will appreciate the flexibility offered by online services, giving up to conventional television services, with their fixed programs, interrupted by ads.

Concrete issues like elections or Olympic Games highlight the weak side of televisions. You must wait for a person to speak about the event you are interested in or otherwise you lose the event and you would like to go back in time in order to watch it. Providing these programs via internet is obviously superior.

Nowadays, watching videos on the computer is a different experience from the experience offered by series and documentaries on television. However, convergence is coming, offering new alternatives for television and advertising companies.

Moreover the impact of internet TV over advertising will be deep, being more focused on personalizing ads according to each consumer’s profile. During the next months experiments will be released in order to study people’s reactions at them, building up an efficient model, beneficial, both for advertisers and for users.

Advertising agencies compete in order to adopt their own strategies to the growing power of the internet, while more and more sums of money are awaited to migrate, in the future, from the television to web sites.
